On Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, the 4th 4TU/14UAS Research Day on Digitalization of the Built Environment takes place in Groningen and is co-organized by DAT Digitalization and hosted jointly by Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Hanze UAS) and The University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen).
About this event
The 4TU/14UAS knowledge institutes invite educators, researchers, and students to participate in this annual event. It showcases cutting-edge research and implementation results in the field of digitalization in the built environment. Whether you are exploring innovative solutions or contributing to advancements in this domain, this is an excellent opportunity to connect, collaborate, and learn.
Background
Advancements in computing, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Construction Technology have revolutionized the design, construction, and operation of the built environment. The abundance of data enables enhanced performance, sustainability, and efficiency through improved decision-making, urban dynamics analysis, energy prediction, fault detection, holistic design, additive manufacturing, and more.
Digitalization serves key goals: decarbonization, performance optimization, occupant comfort, safety, and cost efficiency, while reducing resource use, operational costs, and risks. It supports best practices, streamlines construction processes, predicts costs and progress, and offers insights into real estate trends, traffic, space utilization, and occupant behavior.
In every aspect, digitalization is a transformative force for the built environment!
For Whom?
If you are an educator, researcher, student, or professional affiliated with 4TU, 14UAS, another partnering Dutch institution, or an international institution interested in connecting with the Dutch research ecosystem, we invite you to submit your work before the deadline. Find relevant information about submissions here.
This national event, open to international participants, aims to showcase the contributions of researchers, PhD and EngD candidates, and MSc and BSc students in the domain of the built environment. The event fosters informal communication and collaboration among researchers and educators, focusing on the role of digitalization in the built environment.
Please note that this is a physical event without the availability of online participation!
