Engineering Education of the future: a discussion with MIT and universities of 4TU
On 17 May 4TU.CEE organises a discussion with dr. Amitava Babi Mitra, Executive Director, New Engineering Education Transformation (NEET) of MIT and the 4TU.CEE leaders of our Dutch universities of technology. In this session the universities will present their own vision on engineering education of the future. You will get the opportunity to learn more about MIT’s NEET programme and are most welcome to join in this discussion.
MIT, TU Delft, UTwente, Wageningen University and TU Eindhoven all recognize that 21st century engineering students need more than specialist knowledge alone to be able to work in this fast changing world. They need a wider skills set than their predecessors. Skills like creative and entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to communicate with the outside world for example. These are topics the universities are all currently working on by providing flexibility in the education programmes, more hands on education and interdisciplinary education.
About NEET
With the NEET programme, MIT wants to meet the demands of students who have expressed interest in a project – centric programme that spans multiple departments and offers experiences outside of the classroom. NEET aims to educate young engineers to build the new machines and systems that will address societal needs, by preparing them to work as makers and discoverers. It also provides an opportunity to learn and practice communication, interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
