PERRY DEN BROK NEW CHAIRMAN 4TU.CEE
As per 15 September Perry den Brok has been appointed as new chairman for the 4TU.Centre for Engineering Education. He succeeds Jan van der Veen who held this position for the last four years. The 4TU.CEE board would like to thank Jan for his contribution and commitment to 4TU.CEE in his role of chairman. Jan will remain active as local 4TU.CEE leader for the University of Twente. Perry is very much looking forward to build upon the strong foundation of 4TU.CEE that has been laid over the past four years. Read more… |

WORKSHOP CONDUCTING EDUCATIONAL DESIGN RESEARCH
On 12 December an introductory workshop for 4TU teachers, academic staff, and doctoral students is being organised. Prof. (em.) Thomas C. Reeves of the university of Georgia, Athens (US) will introduce us to the unique and powerful educational design research approach in this one day workshop. 1ST 4TU.CEE PHD STUDENT TO DEFEND HER DISSERTATION
On Thursday 13 December the first 4TU.CEE PhD candidate, Inken Gast, is defending her dissertation titled “Team-Based Professional Development – Possibilities and challenges of collaborative curriculum design in higher education”. The past years Inken has studied the professional development of teachers at the UT during the implementation of the Twente Educational Model (TEM). Read about her findings in this article.

Emiel van Puffelen, 4TU.CEE leader of WUR wrote a blog on the CDIO conference: ‘Lessons from Japan’. Another blog was written bij 4TU.CEE programme coordinators Chantal Brans (TU/e) and Renate Klaassen (TUD) on the SEFI conference 2018, which was all about creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. TU/E INNOVATION DAY - VIRTUAL AND REMOTE LABS IN EDUCATION
4TU.CEE welcomes all TU/e and 4TU employees engaged in teaching and learning at the TU/e Innovation day 2018. This day is organised yearly to inspire teachers to innovate their education. This year the possibilities of remote and virtual labs in education will be explored. Tim van der Grinten of Enversed will provide the keynote. The innovation day will take place on 21 November. EVIDENCE BASED EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION AT WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITY
Wageningen University has organised a call for educational innovation projects. The proposals that have been accepted will participate in the new education innovation research approach. Researchers from the Education and Learning Sciences (ELS) group and 4TU.CEE are studying the effects of the projects and lessons learned. Read more…

INAUGURAL LECTURE PROF. DR. PERRY DEN BROK
On 20 September 2018, Prof. dr. Perry den Brok, Professor of Education and Learning Sciences at WUR and recent chairman of 4TU.CEE, gave his inaugural address entitled: ‘Cultivating the growth of life-science graduates: On the role of educational ecosystems’. In his lecture Den Brok questions whether the ever growing amount of learning approaches and learning environments actually help to equip students to cope with complex future societal issues.
