On the 22 of May 2024, the TU Delft organizes a community day. The theme this time will be AI in education. The day starts with lunch and then two workshops will be given by Derek Lomas and Gosia Migut. A more detailed programme will follow.

Programme

12:00 ā€“ 12:30 pm | Walk-in and lunch

12:30 ā€“ 14:00 pm | Artificial Intelligence in and for Education, Perspectives and challenge

In this first part our main event speakers will giveĀ  a short inspiration talk on their current perspective on AI for Education and what the main challenges and perspectives can and should be.

Gosia Migut: Large Language Models and GenAI in Education

Derek Lomas: What do current developments and perspectives on GenAI mean for Education?

Marcus Specht: AI as an Affordance for Guidance, Feedback and Enhancing Human-Machine Problem Solving

Arvin Khozooei: AI, LLMs and privacy: Is there a safe space and how to empower educators

Open discussion about challenges and opportunities of AI for Education and how to make these accessible in research projects and teaching of classes. In current practices other Higher Education institutions establish ā€œPlaygrounds for AI Servicesā€, which allow the safe use of locally installed AI services for experimentation and piloting.

14:15 ā€“ 16:45 pm | How to use GenAI for Education, Hands-on exercises presented by

TheĀ  workshop will shed a light onĀ  two perspectives: a) teaching ML and AI to computer science students so they become ML/AI engineers; b) building ML/AI systems for education by ML/AI engineers and educators. Those perspectives have different starting points andĀ  expectations. In this workshop we will discuss the need for bridging the gap between those perspectives and focus on how to build common vocabulary through teacherā€™s communities.

15 min: Tips and prompts for ChatGPT

30 min: setting individual goals and learning to get authentic work done with ChatGPT
