Universities of technology are critiqued for not doing enough in educating students on sustainability and grand societal challenges. This critique comes from various directions: UNESCO called “to make education for sustainability a central focus of higher education curricula”, higher education research identifies competencies that are not being taught, and TU students often ask for more focus on sustainability.
TU/e researcher of engineering education Zahar Koretsky, who is part of the TU/e-wide Sustainability Core Team and who leads the 4TU.CEE action research project on Transformative Education for Sustainability, invites individual 4TU members interested in the topic of sustainability and engineering education to join this reflection workshop to discuss experiences and ideas as teachers at TUs. Zahar’s research will serve as a backdrop for the discussion. Everyone is welcome irrespective of the level of teaching experience.
The workshop will be held at a location in the Netherlands in September. You will be informed of the exact date and location in the following weeks once there is an idea of how much interest there is. Please fill this short form to indicate your interest before May 31.
Please feel free to circulate this invitation widely.
