Maarten Vansteenkiste, professor at UGent Belgium, will give an interactive lecture onĀ intrinsic motivation in engineering educationĀ at TU/e on 11 March 2016.
Teachers can influence studentsā intrinsic motivation to learn, and often more profoundly than they might think. They can do so via interaction with students, the learning activities and assessments, and the choices given to students.
Maarten Vansteenkiste is an international expert on Self-Determination Theory. He approaches motivation from the perspective of 3 basic needs: autonomy, relatedness, and competence. The better these needs are satisfied, the more intrinsic motivation will increase.
Maarten Vansteenkiste will give an interactive lecture describing the theory and results of research, added with practical tips on how to increase studentsā motivation.
