Project introduction and background information
In this project, we developed an innovative evidence-based educational method called the ‘Le-Do-Loop’, which stands for the ‘Leer-Doceer-Loop’ in Dutch (‘Learn–Teach–Loop’ in English). The aim of this method is to achieve higher level cognitive outcomes in both online and on campus education. In short, this is achieved by means of students teaching each other and by passing on topics to other groups of students while increasing the level of complexity.
Objective and expected outcomes
‘Le-Do-Loop’ aims to:
- Achieving higher level cognitive learning outcomes;
- Preparing students to function in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment;
- Lowering workload for teachers.
Results and learnings
The principle of Le-Do-Loop is evaluated in five academic courses at Wageningen University. A teachers guide describes the principle of ‘Le-Do-Loop’, including experiences and practical tips for implementing this didactical method in academic courses.
Recommendations
Based on the first promising evaluation results, do's and don'ts for teachers who are planning to implement ‘Le-Do-Loop’ are formulated.
Practical outcomes
A guide for teachers on ‘Le-Do-Loop’ is available on this website.
