CORONA TRANSITION AND STUDENT LEARNING AT TUE

As in other universities, the corona transition at TU Eindhoven led to an abrupt and very fundamental change in the form of teaching and student learning. All interaction has shifted to online. JOIN THE PEER FEEDBACK STUDY!

The use of peer feedback can increase student ownership and learning. However, peer feedback is not always as successful as we want it to be. Priyanka Pereira, 4TU.CEE PhD student at the University of Twente, is studying digital peer feedback in a case study that is part of the IT versnellingsagenda. She focusses on how we can make the use of peer feedback more effective. IMPROVING STUDENT LEARNING THROUGH TEAMWORK EXPERIENCES

Roland Tormey, pedagogical advisor at EPFL, will be giving an inspiration session on 15 October 2020. Tormey will exchange experiences on student learning in teamwork projects at his university, since it is not always clear what these experiences actually teach students about teamwork and project management. SUCCESSFUL START OF THE JOINT INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT AT TU DELFT

The Joint Interdisciplinary Project in which 151 students work in student teams on company cases has successfully started in the 1st week of September. In this 10 week course TU Delft Master students will work on 31 company cases in the Clusters Aerospace, Energy Transition, Health, Industry & Society 4.0. and Urbanism & Delta. The first well-formulated problem definitions have been presented and left companies with a positive impression of the enormous amount of work students have done in a short period already. INTERNATIONAL STUDY ON ENGINEERING EDUCATION IN CORONA TIMES

Apart from evaluation studies at our own Technical Universities, 4TU.CEE engages in an international study on engineering education in corona times with university partners from different continents. ICAB CONFERENCE 2020

This year’s ICAB conference is fully devoted to online teaching & learning and will be organised online, hosted by TU Eindhoven on 5 November. 4TU.CEE chairman Perry den Brok will be speaking, as will Johanna Höffken (TU/e), Dutch teacher of the year 2020. Registration closes on 16 October, and is free of charge.

 

 

 

ARTICLE ON INTERDISCIPLINARITY IN JOURNAL OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

A comment of Renate Klaassen of 4TU.CEE Delft onDisentangling the different layers of interdisciplinarity was included in a special issue of the Journal of Science Communication. She comments that scholars investigating teamwork crossing disciplines have different definitions and understandings about what interdisciplinarity is, which can be related to the field these experts represent.

 

 

 

 

PERSONNEL CHANGES 4TU.CEE BOARD AND ADVISORY BOARD

In the 4TU.CEE board, some personnel changes have occurred. TU Eindhoven leader, Jan Vermunt, is due to illness for the moment replaced by Antoine van den Beemt. At TU Delft, Aldert Kamp left as leader due to retirement. He has been succeeded by Marcus Specht, who will be running 4TU.CEE Delft together with Remon Rooij and Renate Klaassen.
