Pillow Talk

Being able to explore your sexuality and pleasure free of stigma and taboo is essential for a person's overall well-being. Well-being goes beyond the mental and physical, it's also important to acknowledge the sexual wellness of our bodies. This project is for both designers and the general public, it aims to create more inclusive spaces where people can more easily express bodily sensations, by designing for diversity and disrupting normative ways of researching people's bodies. In this way, we present ways of making sexual experiences available for conversations. It's important to acknowledge that these experiences go far beyond the simple act of penetration. We make use of design methods that focus on the body and challenge the normative, standard, popular current sex toy designs. The users are encouraged to self-discover non-genital sexual pleasure. 

How do you get in touch with your sexual self? Is your mind aware of your sexual body? 

Pillow Talk is based on the soma design approach that prioritises the body as a central point. During the process, we asked participants to describe a sexual profile by using felt dolls, making it easier for them to describe their preferences. Furthermore, the dolls were used to provide insights for designing the set of objects according to the materials and shapes preferred by participants.
