4TU Ideation Labs

We invite HBO/WO students from diverse fields to join our program starting on September 20, 2024. Participants will collaborate with research groups to unlock the commercial potential of pioneering technologies in areas like precision medicine, soft robotics, and resilience of systems. Through hands-on experience and intensive coaching, students may have the option to transition into roles ranging from part-time to co-founder after the program, which ends on February 21, 2025.

What can Ideation Labs be for your?

Build up your resume as a Junior Business Develor @4TU and practice interaction with market participants. This experience makes applying and interviewing for any internshiop or full-time job much easier. Via Ideation Labs you have a unique opportunity to engage with groundbreaking technologies at an early stage, explore the market potential of a technology and offer a useful recommendation to the research group. And more!

“Ideation Labs gave me the chance to work on a real impactful transformation of a research project to a potential startup. It gives a unique opportunity to master students to develop entrepreneurial skills in practice with an outstanding series of workshops and coaching meetings to guide their steps. Additionally, it makes students be involved in key actions of this transformation such as how to pitch effectively the project to get funding, in my case NWO Take Off, and how to build a network of experts in the industry and academia.”

Program Structure:

Work Rhythm:

Peer 2 Peer Sessions – Five of them (Scheduled – little flexibility)

○Structured, thematic, instructional, guest practitioners, helps you make progress

○Scheduled on Fridays: Sep 20, Oct 4, Oct 25, Nov 15, Jan 10

Deep dive with a coach - Every 2 weeks 1 hour (more flexible on the scheduling)
Check-ins: optional short meetings with coaches for critical updates and urgent advice
Progress Check Meeting with the Impact Studio in mid-December (flexible scheduling).

Commitment and Progress Expected:

Expected time commitment: 10h a week during (that’s the minimum you ought to reserve, mostly flexible but it is during the working hours)
Attend all the meetings.
Keep recording and communicating your journey / progress (e.g. interview notes)
Make consistent progress by executing intermediate goals set in the meetings.
Deliver the final report.
