4TU student teams give children a glimpse of engineering. Weekend of Science 2024
Last Saturday, 5 October, ten student teams from the four Universities of Technology exhibited their vehicles, demos and workshops on a sunny Marineterrein Amsterdam during the Weekend van de Wetenschap. They showed children and adults how much fun engineering is and explained more about the sustainable and smart solutions they are contributing to with their innovations.

Noortje Bax appointed chair of 4TU.Health centre
Since 1 July 2024 Noortje Bax has been appointed as chair (a.i.) of the 4TU.Health centre. She succeeds Richard Goossens, who held this position since 2022.

4TU announces programme Weekend of Science 2024
The city of tomorrow | During the Weekend van de Wetenschap (5 en 6 October), students from the four Universities of Technology will display cool vehicles and demos and organise workshops in and around the AMS Institute building at the Marineterrein. Their ambition? To show children and their parents how much fun engineering is and what solutions they are working on to tackle global challenges on climate, health, agrofood, safety, infrastructure and mobility.

Stella Kapodistria new scientific director 4TU.AMI (Mathematics)
In a vibrant and forward-looking conversation, Stella Kapodistria (TU/e), the newly appointed scientific director of 4TU.AMI, and her predecessor Johann Hurink (UT) shared insights into the transition of leadership within the institute. The discussion revealed a shared commitment to maintaining the institute's strong foundation while pushing forward into new territories. The international classroom: good for students and our knowledge economy
On 8 March - after nine years - Arthur Mol will hand over his role as rector magnificus and vice-chairman at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) to Carolien Kroeze, Professor of Environmental Systems Analysis. Mol will return to science and be given a personal chair in environmental sciences. Besides being rector, Mol will also take his leave as chairman of 4TU.Research; the consortium in which he was active together with the rectors of the other three TUs to stimulate research collaborations.

As of 1 January, a new centre has been added to the 4TU.Federation: 4TU.History of Technology. The centre aims to boost the discipline of history of technology. 4TU spoke to scientific director Erik van der Vleuten and managing director Jan Korsten about their plans and motivation. Start new 4TU centre for History of Technology
From January 2024, the four technical universities are pooling their knowledge and expertise in the field of the history of technology in 4TU History of Technology. The new centre aims to provide students, engineers and the wider audience with a historical awareness of the role that technology and engineers played in societal transitions in the past two centuries, as well as to develop working methods that makes such knowledge actionable today.
