Elham (Eli) Shirazi

My journey began with studying electrical engineering, where I developed a passion for sustainability and energy transition. I believe that the current developments in the energy transition are promising but there are still significant challenges to overcome.

Currently, I am an assistant professor at University of Twente, aim to contribute to energy transition through education and research. The core focus of my research is to develop intelligent energy systems capable of autonomously adapting to changing conditions, such as fluctuations in energy demand or variations in renewable energy supply. The goal is to improve the resilience and efficiency of the energy systems. One of the significant challenges in my research is managing the complexity and uncertainties inherent in the energy systems. To address uncertainties, I employ forecasting techniques that predict energy demand and supply variations. For handling complexities, I design robust control frameworks that maintain system stability and performance under varying conditions. This approach optimizes energy system operations, ultimately facilitating the transition to sustainable energy solutions.

While the road ahead of us is challenging, we can build a sustainable energy future that meets the needs of society and the environment through education, innovative and collaborative research, and policy advocacy.
