Profile

Adam Briggle graduated with a PhD in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His dissertation research was on the President’s Council on Bioethics. He then worked for three years (2006-2009) as a postdoctoral fellow in the Philosophy Department at the University of Twente on a project researching the relationship between social media and the good life (a Vici project “Evaluating the Cultural Quality of New Media”). He is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas.

Research

Briggle’s research is interdisciplinary in nature, exploring the connections between science, technology, nature, and society. He is the author of several books, including A Field Philosopher’s Guide to Fracking (2015) and Thinking through Climate Change: A Philosophy of Energy in the Anthropocene (2021). He is also active in the Public Philosophy Network, which seeks to advance the theory and practice of philosophy that engages with society.
