Dr. Ir. Clara Maathuis is Assistant Professor in AI and Cyber Security at Open University.

She holds a PhD in Military Cyber Operations and AI from TU Delft, has a multi/interdisciplinary background, and is interested in designing, developing, and deploying intelligent systems/models with societal impact that respect ethical, social, and legal norms and values.

Her research is in the AI (technical, responsible AI, trustworthy AI, safe AI), cyber security, military technologies and warfare, social media manipulation, police conflict, XR/AR/VR, digital twins and digital innovation domains.

At the same time, she develops and teaches courses in the AI (e.g., Machine Learning, Responsible AI) and cyber security domains.
