Profile
Haleh is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Twente. Her research interests cover ethics of emerging technology, privacy, and data protection. Her Ph.D. project involves the analysis of privacy issues in the context of large data set, AI-driven medical research. An especially innovative and exciting element of her project is the focus on group privacy or the ways in which advanced analytics may allow us to make inferences and draw conclusions about groups that they are entitled to keep private. Her project is part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network ‘PROTECT - Protecting Personal Data Amidst Big Data Innovation’, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program. Within the PROTECT project, she works on the ethical assessment of the privacy paradigm regarding trust and transparency. Before starting her Ph.D., Haleh obtained an MSc degree in philosophy of science and technology. Her thesis was focused on the ethical evaluation of Distributed Multi-Agent systems, such as Bitcoin, within the Information Ethics framework. She studied software engineering in her BA’s degree and proposed an effective method to prevent software piracy by neutralizing the published patched files developed by crackers.
