Profile

Laura Fichtner is a transdisciplinary researcher focusing on political, ethical and epistemological issues in science, technology and media. She is interested in how we deal with information (physically and cognitively) and the politics thereof. In her research she explores the discourses and politics at the nexus of cybersecurity, surveillance and privacy.

Laura holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, absolved a peacebuilding and conflict studies curriculum at the University of Hamburg, and graduated with distinction from 4.TU’s Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society Master’s program at the University of Twente. Her Master thesis on the techno-politics of surveillance can be found here. After working as a researcher at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology, she is currently a researcher and PhD candidate at the chair for Ethics in Information Technology at Universität Hamburg (University of Hamburg), Germany.
