Profile

Michael Nagenborg holds a doctoral degree in philosophy (University Karlsruhe, Germany). His doctoral thesis has been on Privacy and ICT. From 2007 to 2013 he has been a member of the Research Centre for Security Ethics at the International Centre for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (University of Tübingen, Germany).

Dr. Nagenborg is co-leading the NWO-funded project BRIdging Data in the built Environment (BRIDE) (2018-2022).

He is a board member of the Philosophy of the City Research Group, advisor to the European research project its4land (2016-2020), the Nordic Centre of Excellence for Security Technologies and Societal Values (NordSTEVA) and the German Institut fuer digitale Ethik at the Media University Stuttgart. Finally, he is a member of the Ethics Committee of the ITC faculty of the University of Twente.

He has been a member of the management committee of the COST action Living in Surveillance Societies (LiSS), a substitute management team member of the COST action Fostering knowledge about the relationship between Information and Communication Technologies and Public Spaces supported by strategies to improve their use and attractiveness (CYBERPARKS) (2014-2018), and a board member of the International Society for Ethics and Information Technologies (2014-2016).
