Profile

Simone van der Burg is a senior researcher in ethics and responsible research and innovation at Wageningen University & Research. The goal of her work is to enhance ethical reflection of stakeholders on impacts of technological innovation on human (social) life. This approach to ethics contributes to more responsible decision making about innovation by making the values and interests of stakeholders explicit and facilitate their reflection and dialogue. Van der Burg is an experienced project leader and researcher who published about numerous innovation trajectories primarily in the health care domain, as well as in food and farming. She is co-founder and associate editor of the Journal of Responsible Innovation and member of Cogem which advises the government about ethical and societal aspects of genetic modification of human beings, animals and plants.
