Steven Dorrestijn is Associate Lector (associate professor of applied sciences) in Ethics of Technology at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands (Saxion website).

In 2012 Dorrestijn completed his PhD thesis, The design of our own lives: Technical mediation and subjectivation after Michel Foucault, at the University of Twente, the Netherlands.

In 2005-2006 Dorrestijn studied Philosophy in Paris with a scholarship of the French Government. He also studied Philosophy and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente.

Dorrestijn’s research and publications focus on the philosophy and ethics of technology and design, Michel Foucault’s work in relation to technology, and the application in design of knowledge about the impact of technology (Product Impact Tool website).
