On September 24th, 2024, the 4TU.GreenSensors team visited the Farm-of-the-Future (FoF) project at Lelystad, a research facility of Wageningen University & Research.
The two presentations addressed all aspects involved in using sensor technologies in agriculture. The GreenSensors coordinator elucidated both the potential and the critical challenges inherent in advancing green sensor technology for agricultural applications and the FoF leader expounded upon the project's innovative concepts, sensor technologies, and state-of-the-art facilities.
The visit aimed primarily at immersing the team in open-field agricultural practices while fostering meaningful exchanges with FoF experts. Ultimately, the team acknowledged that witnessing firsthand the intricacies of farming on polder-clay soils provided invaluable insights into unique challenges that diverge markedly from those encountered clean rooms facilities, and catalyzed discussions for prospective collaborations.
Where both partners could agree, is the mutual ambition to drive sustainability in the realm of smart farming.’
