On April 11, 2024, 4TU.NIRICT participated in NWO ICT.OPEN 2024 and organized a session on ‘Research Highlights on Sustainable ICT in the Netherlands’.
The session started with a short introduction of NIRICT by Suzan Bayhan (UT) followed by the following four inspiring talks:
- The Role of Digital Twins in Sustainability Research: Ivona Brandic, TU Wien
- What's Missing Toward Sustainable Edge AI: Aaron Ding, TU Delft
- Green Sensors; towards a biodegradable network of sensor: Sujith Raman, University of Twente
- Sustainable Wireless Networks – Challenges, Status, and Outlook towards 6G: Ljupco Jorguseski, TNO
The talks provided highlights on some of the ongoing research activities on Sustainable ICT and also ICT's role in sustainability. Following the inspiring talks, the audience and the speakers were invited to share their perspectives on the pressing problems towards a sustainable ICT during a brief discussion session led by Tarek Alskaif (WUR).
