About us

4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering (4TU.RE) is the knowledge centre in Resilience Engineering of the four universities of technology in the Netherlands (Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Twente and Wageningen University and Research).

4TU.Centre for Resilience Engineering

The knowledge centre wants to develop, apply and disseminate knowledge, methods and tools for making societies more resilient. Within this area 4TU.RE focuses on engineering solutions (technical solutions and system designs) in interaction with social-ecological systems. Prof. Dr. Tina Comes is the Scientific Director of the 4TU.RE Centre and Stephanie Hessing is the Managing Director of the Centre.

4TU.DeSIRE Research Programme

DeSIRE (Designing Systems for Informed Resilience Engineering), an extensive interdisciplinary research and capacity building programme, ran from 2018 to 2023. The DeSIRE-programme funded 17 Tenure Trackers, 20 Postdocs and over 50 Resilience Fellows across 14 faculties at the 4TU's. As such 4TU.DeSIRE Programme served as the founding core of the 4TU.RE Centre. Prof. Dr. Tatiana Filatova was the Programme Leader of DeSIRE.
