My academic journey started with a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science at Bonn University, Germany. In my Master’s, I studied agricultural economics in Bonn and Wageningen, after which I pursued a PhD in Applied Economics in Munich, Germany. After that I went into consulting for almost a year before starting my current position as an Assistant Professor for Economics and Resilience of Future Food Supply Chains in the Business Economics Group in Wageningen.
My research focus is on market power in agri-food value chains and its relationship with resilience and the diffusion of (sustainable) innovations. Beyond that, I am interested in evaluating economic performance and resilience of innovative technologies, products and business models in the agri-food sector. My goal is to understand how companies can achieve a competitive advantage in economic performance and resilience by adopting innovations. My research further informs the policy debate on anti-trust regulation.
