Prof. Dr. Alipour is the Cerwik Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at Iowa State University in the US. Her research focuses on the risk and resilience of civil infrastructures subjected to extreme events. This spans the fundamental development and practical application of probabilistic methods to evaluate the safety and reliability of various infrastructures, use of machine learning to exploit large datasets of diverse origin, investigation of performance measures at both component and network levels, and quantification and enhancement of resilience considering the interdependency of infrastructure systems.
As a Senior Resilience Fellow at 4TU, she will be exploring innovative methodologies to enhance the resiliency of interdependent infrastructure systems exposed to natural hazards. This involves the development of a suite of mitigation and intervention strategies, as well as recovery plans. The primary focus will be on achieving a balanced portfolio of pre-event mitigation and post-event recovery activities with the final goal of resilience. In collaboration with colleagues at 4TU she will establish the trans-disciplinary basis necessary to lead innovative solutions to improving the safety and performance of critical, interdependent infrastructure systems with the goal of minimizing societal risks.
I was a Research Fellow in the 4TU.DeSIRE programme.
