The Veiligheidsregio Utrecht / Safety Region Utrecht (VRU) is keen to engage with municipalities and partners on the implications of climate change adaptation and energy transition: do we design the crisis out of the city or do we design it into the city? For this reason, the GameLab of TU Delft and the VRU have been working on a Dutch version of the serious game RElastiCity about the resilience of the urban environment. The game has been extended and translated into Dutch.
On Monday 8 July 2024, Sjoerd Potters and Laurens de Graaf, the chairmen of the Risk and Crisis Management Administrative Advisory Committees, were handed the first copies by Geertje Bekebrede, head of the GameLab at Delft University of Technology.
Laurens de Graaf: “This Serious Game is a new step for the VRU to work together with our partners to create a safe and healthy as well as resilient living environment. With RElastiCity, experts and strategic managers can explore together in an open atmosphere the dilemmas and opportunities that await us in the coming years.”
Members of 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering were originally involved in the design of this game and are therefore delighted to be part of the inspiration for municipalities and partners to get an understanding of what resilience entails.
